Once your account is set up, you can easily download the app via the provided links and log-in or you can use your web browser for your newly created account. All of your packages, plans, purchase history, and saved payment methods will be readily available to you for booking!

What is yoga?

Yoga has been around for THOUSANDS of years. It is a combination of physical and mental exercises that have captivated people around the globe. There are tons of different styles of yoga, so that can be confusing. Let’s break it down…

First things first, yoga is for everyone!

Don’t be intimidated by fancy yoga poses, fancy yoga clothes, or weird words. At Island Movement, we pride ourselves on providing an open and welcoming environment for everyone! Our teachers are able to “read the room” and tailor each class to the skill level of the students present.

The majority of our classes are Vinyasa style yoga. Vinyasa simply means linking your breath with your movement. Here is an outline of how most of our classes are broken down.

  • Awareness & connecting to your breath.

  • Warm-up: We will start with gentle movements to warm-up the body and get you familiar with connecting your movement to your breath.

  • Standing & Balancing Poses: Classes start to flow and gradually increase in intensity. We’ll move through strong standing sequences and playful balancing postures.

  • Peak pose or thematic element: We’ll reach a peak pose or your teacher will slowly reveal a theme of the class.

  • Backbends: Your teacher will guide you through a backbending series before or after some core work. Remember, all poses in our classes are optional! You do you!

  • Cool down: We will mindfully slow it down again.

  • Savasana: Your final resting pose. You will lie on your back and enjoy the zing of energy you created in your body. A time to integrate your practice and show gratitude for yourself for showing up and taking part in something new, just for you!
